My positivity mantra is critical to my success, and I want you to understand why. To that end, I’ve compiled a series of blog posts exploring each of the 10 steps. They will give you a positive mindset to energize your online business. It’s a powerful toolkit.
We begin with “I am patient” and how to be more patient as an affiliate marketer, so read on for the how… and the why!

How to Be More Patient as an Affiliate Marketer
The following are just some of the headaches that will bog you down and slow your growth in this business. As you get going, you’ll begin to relate to these and understand why staying calm and carrying on is essential. Let’s learn why we must…
Be Patient Waiting for Traffic
You need people on your website to make money, but ranking highly in search engines takes time. Waiting for people to find your site isn’t fun, and you’ll have to endure it. Though hours or even days of your time are spent putting a shine on posts you care deeply about, only a handful of people will read them early on. It’s incredibly frustrating.
However, you must have patience with your audience and the search engines. If you write engaging and worthwhile content, it WILL get noticed eventually. You’ll find that some posts won’t be as successful as others, but if you follow tried and tested principles, there will be a reward down the road. Just don’t let the slow journey to popularity get in your head.
Be Patient Hoping to Make Money
There’s no instant gratification with affiliate marketing. Sales don’t start to stream in as soon as you post an advert. Sorry, but you need to grow your website brick by brick until it’s a space where your visitors are almost eager to buy from you.
Your “money moment” will sometimes seem very far away, and most people quit before they experience it. A lack of patience leaves many dreams of online success unfulfilled. It’s just too easy to snap and be angry about it.
How many have fallen at the last when victory was just a few strides away? Don’t be that horse. Be the staying chaser that gradually gets ahead of the pack and wins the race.
Be Patient Writing Content
Some days, the words don’t come. Your well of creativity dries up, and your brain has no leaves on its branches. Other times, or maybe simultaneously, you feel nostalgic and read one of your old posts. You discover that only an illiterate monster could have written such bilge. It’s soul-destroying.
Don’t be your worst enemy, beating yourself up about your lack of creativity or flare. Let the process be natural; take breaks when needed, or force yourself to have one if you forget.
I’m terrible at taking time out when I need to, so I must practice self-discipline. You’ll enjoy the process much more if you do the same. One of the joys of working for yourself is that no one can breathe down your neck about it. Productivity, timekeeping, and quality are all critical, but you are your own boss now, so you should aim to be a good one. No one likes a stressed-out manager, so don’t be a bull-headed crank to yourself when your head turns to mush. It doesn’t do any good.
For sure, take your own feedback and the constructive thoughts of others. Onboard them, but let go of any negativity. Writing is fun, so chill out. Tell yourself that.
Be Patient While Finding Fixes and Answers
Things break, website servers crash, and sometimes Google doesn’t answer your question, so you ask elsewhere. The wait for fixes or solutions consumes you, and you can’t get anything done. It ruins your day but doesn’t need to be that way. In fact, your time is freed up, so celebrate the opportunity. You can do almost anything in these moments.
Catch up on some research or another item on your to-do list, and exercise or get a bite to eat. Don’t sit at your monitor or stare delinquently at your mobile phone, waiting for that eureka call to action that doesn’t come soon enough. Don’t become an email warrior, distressing whoever is trying to help you. With these vibes, when you get your fix, you won’t have the drive to do anything else that day.
Be Patient in Fighting Distractions
I’m working on a new article or researching when something triggers the idea pistol in my head. I want to move with the brainwave quickly, as I might forget otherwise. Something else piques my interest as I do and distracts me a second time, and so it goes on. I return to my original task, realizing I’ve lost my train of thought, and I’m cross with myself for the holes in my head.
Don’t let this happen to you!
Contain and manage any impulses that will distract you from the task. I keep notepads in my coat, living room, and desk. I jot down ideas and update my to-do list and calendar with my thoughts at the end of each day. It keeps me sane… well, relatively sane. I cover this in Step 2 of the positivity mantra about how to be more organized as an affiliate marketer:
How to Be More Patient in General
Here are a few tips and techniques to get you skilled in the art of patience:
- Recite the positivity mantra and judge yourself kindly: Your aims are far greater than your obstacles, and your rewards will come.
- Take five minutes out to breathe fresh air: Go for a walk and put a brief pause on life. No one will mind, and neither should you.
- Distance yourself from negative energies: Whether it is a person or thought, don’t be sucked in by bad vibes. It makes people ugly.
- Laugh: Most bad experiences turn into funny stories later, so you might as well laugh at them now.
- Allow yourself to feel superior: You are calm when everyone else panics, so you’ve time to feel smug. Please don’t rub it in people’s faces, though.
- Listen to your situation: Is there a lesson to be learned here? How can it improve you as a person? Be in the habit of consideration. Would you speak to others having similar anxieties in the same way you criticize yourself? You can gain from your experience, so savor it and be kind to the inner you.
- Don’t cry over spilled milk: Mop it up, buy more milk, and blame the cow if you need to (not angrily). We all make mistakes, and nothing special about you makes it worse.

Video by Bob Proctor
If we can be patient waiting for a plant to grow, we can also be patient with our online business. It will grow, develop, and prosper naturally. Remember that impatience is the paralyzing opposite of focus and determination.
In this short video, Bob Proctor teaches how patience expresses deep understanding. His message is powerful, so please watch it. As you start your affiliate marketing journey, you’ll surely relate to what the late Bob Proctor is saying here. Learning to be more patient is about understanding how we feel about our present state and knowing that it’s normal for things to take time.
Final Words on “I Am Patient”
Finally, remember that when people come across your website, most will wish they could create one similar. So, please don’t get in a tizz about the work you’ve done!
Of course, those people could do the same thing if they just knew what to do. Wait, though! You will have the skills and knowledge to show them how. You can empower them, teach them, and sell them an idea. And that, my friends, will make you money.
